Okay, the unicode sliderule is something I put up for torgo_x. And the mopportunity is from a Leisuretown caption. I'm worrierd about the Octopus People and the Determined Bush. I think the Manimals know I'm on to them and don't want me to tell the President about the danger.

Why thank you!

It was my second-ever foray into JavaScript, and it worked out pretty well. I was mainly looking for something to do with
all this data that I'd compiled, but it's worked out that I only occasionally use that function. The other stuff, I use on an almost daily basis.

The "sliderule" part of the name came to mind because at YAPC 1999, Mark Jason Dominus was giving away some
weird old slide rules from his collection.
I passed on taking any, because they were as obscure to me as
something from the Codex Seraphinianus, whereas some other folks there would actually understand them to some degree. But
those slide rules stuck with me as a memorable way to organize great amounts of data.

I later bought an abacus and hung it on the wall.

cool! i like it a lot as a way to browse the glyphs...reminds me of rummaging around cases of metal type. unicode stuff is interesting.

:) my ex-boyfriend used an actual slide rule on a midterm last year, for pure cockiness value.
