No, not the one I'm listening to right now although that qualifies too.

Stan Ridgway and Stewart Copeland - Don't Box Me In (from the Rumblefish soundtrack), which seems to be out of print except in live versions.

A minor classic. Copeland without Sting being annoying, and Ridgway showing what he could do away from Wall of Voodoo.

I LOVE that song. Stan's weird craggy voice + Mr. Copeland's brilliance. MMMM. I saw the video way back when, in the day when videos were still just interesting and sometimes beautiful, and there were tons of shots of Stewart playing... well... everything. Wheeeee. =)

Oh yeah, it's also why I like On Any Other Day from Outlandos D'Amour. You get that sudden flash of Klark Kentedness, and get happy. =)

I love you.

That is one of my favorite songs of all time. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I found the Video on a Stan Ridgeway website. I think it's still there actually...

How about ANYTHING by Magazine or The Sound.

Best Magazine (with a deliciously angry and brilliant Howard Devoto) may be "Back To Nature", Although any of the first three albums are must haves. "Scree" is a great overview.

The Sound - lead singer Adrian Borland committed suicide in the early 90's so there's reason to check them out. "Lion's Mouth" or "Head and Hearts" - everyone says Coldplay is a U2 ripoff, but listen to the Sound to hear where Coldplay really came from - angstier and not nearly so far up their own buttholes. Tragically overlooked.

Yes both of those. I love Magazine (and Howard Devoto solo), and I have the first Sound album somewhere. I didn't know he'd committed suicide; that's very sad. "I Can't Escape Myself" is a great song.

A great new band that harkens back to old 80's bands comes from Canada - "The Arcade Fire" - think early Talking Heads with a string section. Wonderful stuff.
