Another lost 80s gem
Jun. 25th, 2005 12:17 pmNo, not the one I'm listening to right now although that qualifies too.
Stan Ridgway and Stewart Copeland - Don't Box Me In (from the Rumblefish soundtrack), which seems to be out of print except in live versions.
A minor classic. Copeland without Sting being annoying, and Ridgway showing what he could do away from Wall of Voodoo.

Date: 2005-06-25 07:28 pm (UTC)That is one of my favorite songs of all time. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I found the Video on a Stan Ridgeway website. I think it's still there actually...
more lost 80's gems
Date: 2005-06-25 07:31 pm (UTC)Best Magazine (with a deliciously angry and brilliant Howard Devoto) may be "Back To Nature", Although any of the first three albums are must haves. "Scree" is a great overview.
The Sound - lead singer Adrian Borland committed suicide in the early 90's so there's reason to check them out. "Lion's Mouth" or "Head and Hearts" - everyone says Coldplay is a U2 ripoff, but listen to the Sound to hear where Coldplay really came from - angstier and not nearly so far up their own buttholes. Tragically overlooked.
