My father talks to a Japanese naval officer shortly after the end of hostilities, Manila Bay, 1945. The guy in the back there doesn’t seem to have enjoyed his war very much.



The U.S.S. Ommaney Bay burns after being hit by a Kamikaze suicide aircraft. Luzon, 1945. I think the guys on the Ommaney Bay were also not enjoying their war. Note that this picture was taken from a tanker ship full of the equivalent of lighter fluid.
