I think it's a shame that he's now become this weird superhuman/crippled dual-celebrity...leaving aside all the paralysis research stuff, I have a lot of respect for him for things he did before all that, most notably being outspoken in favor of general support of the arts and against crazy nutcase interference. I recall seeing him shut down Pat Robertson in a debate on CNN when Smiley was on another "well folks we have to stop all this gubmint sponsorship of EEEEVIL ART"
