The continuing decline of the City of God
Mar. 3rd, 2004 12:47 pmMetafilter had this gem, about that MAGAZINE BIBLE THING, this time with videos illustrating the problem:
“The Bible is so big and freaky looking”
“Too much information”
“It’s like Shakespeare or something”
whereas this new format:
“I’d carry this magazine around!”
“It has beauty tips. It’s good to look beautiful.”
You know, if you reduced the Koran to a fashion magazine you’d be.. dead.

I do not want to make a snap judgment, but I think that it is too easy to water-down a message so that it becomes more appealing. I do not remember seeing make up tips in my bible...what book of the bible is that based on?
