I'm not sure where [livejournal.com profile] mendel found this. I never saw it back in the day, probably because I didn't see much MTV until the end of '83. Now I cannot stop watching it, and I pulled out the mp3 so I could listen to it. It's.. Well, it's the dog police.

How many drugs do you need to be on to write something like that?
How many drugs do you need to be on to put it on television?
How many drugs do you need to be on to enjoy watching it?

I'm not sure about the first too, but we are talking about 1) Texas and 2) MTV in 1983.

The answer to the third is:

Adderall XR 30 mg
Provigil 200 mg
Metformin 500 mg
Aspirin 2600 mg
Lamictal 150 mg
Lexapro 30 mg
Triamterene-hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg
Ranitide 40 mg
two glasses iced coffee

So this is what's in the house of pain...don't cross the law giver, or else you'll end up watching this again, and again, and again...

That is the single worst thing I've ever seen, and I've seen Brazil and The KLF's The White Room.

Also, the lyrics are cribbed from the Electric Company's "Spider-Man" theme:

Spider-Man, where are you coming from?
Nobody knows who you are!

I had an image of them listening to Cheap Trick's "Dream Police" and singing "Dog Police" to it, and later getting really high while spinning Sparks and/or Queen. But yeah, Electric Company.

i didn't listen to the sound when i watched it, so when i figured out what they were saying, the melody to "Dream Police" was the first thing that popped into my head. i'm not sure if it helps or hurts the original song, though.
