I had a different commute today because I had to take the car in for regular service. I got on I-5 at Tustin Ranch headed north and oops! major slowdown. Stuck in traffic. Dammit dammit.

As I crawled north past various Caltrans and cop vehicles, I saw the cause of the slowdown. The Red Hill offramp was closed down and there were law enforcement types everywhere, copapalooza. Several of them were under improvised little sun shelter with sniper rifles, and a commander with his pistol out was crouched behind a squad car. They were all facing a motel that in turn faced the freeway.

So I crept by, hoping that Sideshow Bob and/or Pretty Boy Floyd didn't open up on the cops and catch me downwind.

Just another day on the freeways!

and then, last Friday, as I was coming home from Diedrich's, I had to go an extra offramp on the freeway, 'cause my offramp was ON FIRE...

and then, the previous sunday, I was at home with my friends, hanging out, drinking, after seeing 28 Days Later..., and the lights went out, and they were out for at least an hour, and I heard a helicopter overhead, and I decided that some drunk guy took out a phone pole and tried to escape on foot, and I was right...

One time I saw a goat eating cars off the side of the 101 at Balboa and I nearly drove off the freeway. It was amazing. AMAZING!

I saw it too.. dunno what happened.. but it was the only time I've ever felt road rage. until I saw the sniper rifles. then I thought it was pretty damned cool, because hey--I've never seen a real sniper before. today, that is.

My kinda GF live in the apt complex next to the Keys Inn where the standoff took place... I woke up to the "will person in room 337 please exit with your hands up." "this is the Police will the person in room 337 come out with your hands up..." it got kinda funny, after like the 30th time, it seemed like the cop had kinda given up you could hear it in his voice... Kinda like how dumb am I to keep saying this over and over... He tried to start varying it, but tripped himself up around try 35. Sad and funny...
