substituteThere was an art opening in town tonight (this isn't an art opening kind of a town), and one of the local characters had just been to it when he showed up at D's. Woody is a constant presence at the coffeehouse. I think in theory he fixes things there and gets free coffee as a result. He's a fortysomething guy with the rockstar balding look, who habitually wears shorts and a sweatshirt. He's from Jersey. Tonight, post art opening, he was sporting black pleather pants, a black cable knit sweater, and tasseled loafers.
Now, this is Woody, and one must make allowances for people who aren't from here. But I don't think that's an acceptable uniform even in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ or wherever the fjord he's from. The Gods cursed me and I couldn't get a good shot of him, but maybe Hils did.
I repeat, tasseled loafers.
I made a good dinner tonight: Baked salmon with cracked black pepper, steamed asparagus, and tomato salad. Served with a nice dry Riesling. First decent meal I've cooked and eaten since I got this flu, which I think I may now have completely killed.
It felt a lot colder tonight than the 53 F it supposedly was.
