Death Valley Storm Sequence

Christmas 2003. We were at the top of this mountain when the storm rolled in. The wind was blowing about 40 mph and it was bitterly cold. We got down just in time before the rain and hail hit.

Wonderful/Terrifying Request

Boy I'd like to see this, I hope they find someone. Spreading the word, here. Also I love the phrase "fire friendly venues". But I'd really love to see Blixa do some solo stuff.

We are looking for a nice seated theater space for the 5th "How to Destroy the Universe Festival". It will take place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. Blixa Bargeld has been very kind in agreeing to perform a very rare appearance of his solo work here in the United states. He also says he will be performing his pieces in English. The festival will also include performances by F-SPACE. The other artists are yet TBD. We are accepting applications for the festival now.

If you have any venue contacts, please let us know. Blixa has requested the event take place in a non-traditional venue, different than the typical rock club setting. Fire friendly venues would be great for F-SPACE, but are not required.

Karl Mueller died.

Met him on their first tour in 1985. I'd really loved Say What You Will, Clarence: Karl Sold the Truck, especially "Religiavision", and then they put out Made to be Broken and wow, had to go see them. They played the Anti-Club and maybe 10 people showed up. Oddly I kept meeting people years later who'd been at that show. Soul Asylum was a really amazing band around that time; loud and passionate. They did great mashups, too. I particularly remember them doing a mash of Gang of Four's "Damaged Goods" with Prince's "The Cross".

Unfortunately by the time they started to do really well they'd changed their musical style almost completely and I didn't enjoy it. I liked everything up to Hang Time, but when they got into that "Runaway Train" phase they totally lost me.

Weird irony that Karl got throat cancer. I'd expected Dave to croak (literally) from that, the way he destroyed his voice.

2. Unrelated to this, my domain registrar sends out notification to everyone that my domains point to dyndns.org. They don't. I disappear from the Internet.

3. Work pages me to help them manage users on Mac OS X on the command line which is mind-bogglingly stupid and complex. Thank you, NextStep. Thank you, NetInfo. FUCK YOU, STEVE.

4. I call support for #2 and it says they're close and leave a message, but instead I get hold music and can't leave a message. I then leave an email support request marked SUPER FUCKING URGENT YOU FUCKS and get a call back to my cell later, which I can't answer because T-Mobile's coverage includes all of California except my house. They don't leave a message.

5. GLOBAL THERMONUCLEAR FUCKING WAR. DO YOU SPEAK IT, MOTHERFUCKER?
