Ah yes, I've heard of this. It won the Modern Language Association Prize for a First Book, the Phi Beta Kappa Society's Ralph Waldo Emerson Award for "scholarly studies that contribute significantly to interpretations of the intellectual and cultural condition of humanity," and, inexplicably though not undeservedly, the Charles Homer Haskins prize from the Medieval Academy of America.
