I wouldn't disagree with your second paragraph at all; my point was that they're more likely to impact the communities of the people in question which is the same as your question, except I'm allowing for "people in my community" not being "people like me" and vice versa.

They're boring in as much as they're poorly organized and less sensational, at least by Internet standards. Know your medium.
