This particular tropical paradise stands a very good chance of experiencing a significant cyclone this year, if the old folks are right. Local wisdom has it that when the fruit are particularly heavy, the weather will be too. This year, there's a bumper crop of mangoes and mandarines. They've arrived almost a month early, and in numbers that I haven't seen, well, since the year cyclone Ivy left me stranded for a week in Ambae.
