I'm a Disgusting Parasite: Get Me Out of Here!

From Gawker:

Two years ago, Downtown Julie Brown, the host of “Club MTV” in the late 80’s and early 90’s, agreed to be placed in a plexiglass tub full of leeches while taking part in the ABC television series “I’m a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here!” On Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, she filed suit against the producers of the show (Granada US Productions and Granada Entertainment USA) and ABC Television for fraud, battery, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. She contends that they failed to disclose that leeches can carry numerous diseases, viruses and bacterial infections, and that bites from leeches can cause scarring, inflammation and blood infection. She is seeking more than $1 million in damages. Neither Granada nor ABC would comment on the suit.

I have this beautiful image of Downtown Julie Brown covered in ring shaped scars, twitching and foaming at the mouth from “numerous diseases”, hobbling into the courtroom. “I didn’t know they’d be bad for me! You guys are mean!”

Carsonesque punchline:

Diseases, viruses and infections? Shouldn't the leeches be suing Downtown Julie Brown?

(rimshot)

Thank god snarkily lovable real Julie Brown had the sense to remain an obscure cult figure.

No wait, scratch that, the use of the word cult to represent camp obscurity has to end here. Jim Jones, David Koresh and Donald Wildmon are cult figures. Real Julie Brown is just a cool girl, once a little famous, who sadly now works at Arby's.

it, um, ain't so. Me and my wry comical exaggerations.

A compliment I'll remember for as long as I can

I think she'll always be a little famous, as long as Earth Girls Are Easy is on cable five times a week the way it is now. And that's the way it should be.
