hurray! i'm solving an emotional problem with saturated fat!

This anxiety+ADD+depression thing really fucking sucks. Can I go back to plain old depression now?

Where the hell did [livejournal.com profile] chaptal go and bring him back. Chop-chop.

I paused to consider today how rich I am, in the global scheme of things, and got very embarrassed.

My career in technology has jumped the shark.

the bum at D’s tonight had SLOW DOWN, I AM RIDING written on the back of his shirt and was playing his harmonica with a straw

I think it’s time for the drug dealers upstairs to go.

What’s your favorite song right now?

[slowly awakes]

Er... I was going to choose 'Hic Et Nunc' by Aphrodite's Child, but instead I'll plump for 'Chain Letter' by Todd Rundgren.

[identity profile] explosivo.livejournal.com 2005-01-06 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
such an excellent choice...

carry on...

Thanks, mister. [sniffs back a tear]

"Paint it Black" The Stones.

"I paused to consider today how rich I am, in the global scheme of things, and got very embarrassed." I feel you. It's hard to be relative, but at the same time when you are struggling with something (depression, rejection, etc) it's good to remember that even though other people have it worse off it doesn't negate or invalidate your feelings. I have a problem with this whenever I feel upset. I'm like "I have a house, a car, people who love me, talent, and have never been hungry a day in my life" so...yes...my concerns seem small in a global scheme.

hey flux...

did you take your LJ name from a phrase in a song by the horrifyingly addictive UK pop band Busted ("Year 3000") ?

re: [livejournal.com profile] chaptal - we are in email communication and I hope to reel him back in shortly.

re: favorite song right now... let's go with "I'll Be True (Someday)" by Eugene Edwards (see iTunes, or eugeneedwards.com)

Chapty

Did something happen to his account? Did something happen to tick him off? I sure hope you are able to bring him back. Let him know he is much missed. :-(

I'm not awake enough to think of a favorite song, so I'll have to go with what's currently playing:
Shine, by Flipper.
Yeah, that'll do.

My head jukebox is stuck on Showtunes from the 1980's.

You really don't want to know what's playing

[identity profile] frobisher.livejournal.com 2005-01-06 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, right now, I'm listening to Uncle Bonsai's You Call That A Hat?, which I'm enjoying.

beautiful song.

Something compelling about A-side first songs on Elvis Costello Albums. "Welcome to the Working Week" is figuring prominently as is "Beyond Belief".

History repeats the old conceits
The glib replies, the same defeats
Keep your finger on important issues
With crocodile tears and a pocketful of tissues

I'm just the oily slick
On the windup world of the nervous tic(k)
In a very fashionable hovel

[identity profile] odradak.livejournal.com 2005-01-06 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It's got to either be Blue Valentine by Tom Waits or I See a Darkness, the Bonnie Prince Whatsisname cover (because I just don't really like like Johnny Cash).
Yours?
Has that Future Image place given up on legitimate business?

[identity profile] substitute.livejournal.com 2005-01-06 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the place next door to Future Image

Re: depression. My "Objective 2005" is "happiness". I was effing fed up with being unhappy. So far so good. However, I have external help.

"You Were Depressing Me", the Scattered Pages.

Looking forward to hearing them again in a week.

Music?

[identity profile] satoribee.livejournal.com 2005-01-06 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I must be watching too much TV and not listening to enough of my CDs because the song we have been sing around home lately is

"Now I don't got soup no more,
Now my soup is on the floor..."

Target Dog!
