I dunno - the hardcore side of punk has always had a pretty extreme, right fringe. I'm sure they'd equally cringe if someone called them conservative, but they're pretty similar, ideologically.

I think the problem is the (widespread) misuse of the term "conservative". One can be very right wing indeed but not be conservative. "Liberal" is even more heartily misused, considering a real liberal would fall on the right and not the left. Ah well, it's all bollocks, really.
