Much to the amusement of my roommate, I ate Taster's Choice during my sophomore year of college. I'm not sure what cured me of the habit.

Didn't work that way for me, but you piqued my interest.

According to this site, syrup of ipecac is an emetic made from the dried root of a plant called ipecacuanha, which is grown in Brazil. An emetic is an agent that causes vomiting.

HealthWorld Online discusses ipecacuanha in all its glory.
